On October 10, 2010 (10/10/10), Johnny Oovaut, the former mayor from Quaqtaq, Nunavik (northern Quebec) was commissioned into a Men's Ministry by the leaders of the
in Nunavut and Nunavik.

This Fellowship of churches includes faithful pastors and leaders in the North such as James Arreak, Billy Arnaquq, Annie Tertiluk, Bobby and Eva Deer, Eliyassie Sallualuk, and Elizabeth Annahatak, to name a few. Also, as a part of the Commissioning Service, there was ministries from the South, such as Russ and Mave Moyer, David Ellyatt, and Roger Armbruster.

After the commissioning service, Roger brought a message that picked up on the theme of Johnny, as a spiritual warrior, to also challenge the Body of Christ in the North as a whole to rise up at this hour, and to fight for their families and their communities, against the enemies of alcoholism, drugs, sexual abuse and suicide.
Parts of Johnny's commissioning service, and the message that followed, can be heard on the recording below. It is a timely theme that has relevance, I believe, to the entire Body of Christ in Canada at this hour. While the original message was translated into Inuktitut by James Arreak, and with the desire to communicate this message from the north to southern audiences, and for the sake of greater brevity, the translation has been cut out. When you may have the time to give this important message a listen, it will take some 42 minutes. The Lord bless you richly as you listen to the highlights of the commissioning service of Johnny Oovaut in Kangirsuk on Sunday, October 10, 2010 (10/10/10).
