Healing the Land Teaching
by Roger Armbruster
The
anointing with which God the Father anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth that
enabled Him to break through and diffuse and disarm the demonic realm was the
anointing of the oil of joy and gladness.
“But to the Son He says, ‘Your Throne, O God, is for ever and
ever. A sceptre (ruler’s staff) of
righteousness is the sceptre of Your Kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness.
“’Therefore God,
Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy and gladness more than your
companions’” (Hebrews 1:8, 9).
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because He has anointed me to preach Glad Tidings
to the poor…to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for
ashes, the oil of joy for mourning,
the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called
Trees of Righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified”
(Isaiah 61:1, 3).
“Therefore my heart
is glad, and my glory rejoices.
My flesh also will rest in hope.
For You will not leave my soul in Sheol (the abode of the dead), nor
will You allow Your Holy One to see or undergo corruption. You will show me the path of life. In
your Presence there is fulness of joy, at Your right hand are pleasures
forevermore” (Psalm 16:9-11).
After Jesus
died and rose again, His final words to His disciples just before He ascended
to the Father’s right hand, was that as we go into all of the world, that we
proclaim the Good News of the Gospel, not only to human beings, but indeed, to
all of creation. That includes the land,
the plants and the animals who are also a part of the creation that is groaning
with labor pains together with us, even until now. The Creation is eagerly awaiting, it is
standing on its tip toes with anticipation and expectation for the glory and
the joy that is within the sons of God to be fully revealed and manifested so
that the Creation itself can be delivered from its bondage to corruption, to
futility and to decay. Romans 8:18-23.
“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world, and preach the good news to all creation”
(Mark 16:15, NIV).
As you go
out with joy, and are led forth in peace, the mountains and the hills will
break out into singing before you!
“For you shall go
out with joy, and led forth in peace.
The mountains and the hills
shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands” (Isaiah
55:12).
People and
land are connected, because our very bodies were created out of the dust of the
ground. Genesis 2:7. Even the land, the territory of earth in
which we live, has a joyful sound deposited in it that resonates with the joy
in heaven. When people from every tribe
and nation tap into the joy of the Lord and free the joy that is within them,
the land, too, will make a joyful noise rather than to groan and to mourn. Joel 1:10-12; Jeremiah 12:10-12.
“Make a joyful shout
(a joyful noise, a gleeful sound) to the LORD, all you lands!” (Psalm 100:1).
“The LORD reigns! Let the earth rejoice! Let the multitude of coastlands be glad!” (Psalm 97:1).
“O sing unto the
LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD
all the earth!”
(Psalm 96:1).”
“Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth! And break out into singing O mountains!
For the LORD has comforted His people, and will have mercy on His
afflicted” (Isaiah 49:13).
“Blessed are the
people who know the joyful sound (the festal shout, ESV), who walk, O LORD, in the light of
Your face! In Your Name they rejoice all day long,
and in Your righteousness they are exalted” (Psalm 89:15, 16).
