BELONG Summit 2016 Coming to Winnipeg!
Winnipeg Centre Vineyard
82 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5
If it takes a village to raise a child--what kind of villages are caring for the 80,000 kids being fostered in Canada?
Church leaders, professionals, stakeholders, parents and everyday good neighbors, you can help change the future for vulnerable children and their families.
Everyone has a piece of the child welfare puzzle. You may well discover yours at the BELONG Summit 2016 in Winnipeg on November 4 and 5.
Be enlightened, be informed, be equipped in Family Care, Church Leadership, Aboriginal Perspectives and Global Care.
Two of the main speakers will be Domingo and Irene Garcia from Sacramento, California. For the Garcias, caring for the foster kids has been an amazing quest. Over the past 35 years, their home has been filled with many children.
They have had a front row seat watching God in action as He has met every need. It has not been an easy journey, but the blessings have surpassed the heartaches.
Their goal is to encourage the church in North America to answer the cry of vulnerable children.
The Garcias are authors, speakers and caregivers who share their personal story of family restoration and caring for children from hard places. They are in their 60s and currently are raising 10 children with special needs in their home.
They have a passion in their roles as spouses, parents and beloved children of the heavenly Father. Their captivating story is retold in their recent book, Rich in Love. Please leave a message at the bottom of this post if you would like to have this book sent to you or to borrow it without cost or obligation.

Another powerful feature of the BELONG Summit 2016 week-end will be the ability to engage with the producers of the Lost Kites film as well as to see a screening of this powerful, full length feature documentary that captures the stories of three abandoned kids braving their way.
These three modern orphans are likened to "lost kites." Kites, like orphans, are tethered by a fine line of guidance. The fight to beat the odds results in one escaping to the streets, another to fight for a dream, and the third to battle for life? Will the abandoned find hope?
The more that the team traveled, the more hope for family began to emerge. 70+ interviews with social workers, advocates, doctors and authors revealed strategies that the team is now sharing with the world on their film.
God's solution is always in the family, not so much in impersonal institutions. This film issues a global call to restore families that love unconditionally, and provide a safe place for children to blossom and to grow up to their full potential. Everyone has a piece that can make this happen.

It is significant that the BELONG Summit 2016 should take place at a time such as this in order to reveal The Father's Heart in the Heart of the City that is in the Heart of the Continent!
It is also significant that the Mayor of Winnipeg has called for the year 2016 to be a Year of Reconciliation. Without reconciliation, there can be no healing, and without healing at the heart level, there is no way for broken families to be restored and preserved.
It is time for people and resources to connect as we become a relational network uniquely equipped to support the restoration of families and children among us. The Body of Christ embraces people from all nations, all languages, all cultures, all generations, and is already rising up in many ways to ensure that no child is left family-less.
